I got a band score of 7.5 in the Speaking Section of the IELTS exam last month, and an Overall Band score of 7.5 aswell. I was expecting a score of 8, since I had been quite fluent with my speech. However, a score of 7.5 isn't bad though, to be honest. But from what I'm seeing across various comment sections and interviews, I must admit that there is a lack in uniformity regarding the marking pattern from one city to another. That's because there are some people who're claiming to have achieved band scores of 8 in comment sections, but still they have noticeable grammatical errors and this is something not expected from a 8 Band Score holder. There are candidates who have'nt been fluent throughout with their speeches but still bagged a score of 7.5 on one hand, and on the other hand there are candidates who've been absolutely impeccable with their speeches, yet they ended up with band scores of 7 or 7.5. I can assure everyone that my Testing centre in Kolkata is quite authentic, rather strict, since I had expected higher scores in Speaking and Writing. However, it's all about getting the desired score afterall, which I did. 😄💯 My requirement for the PLAB examination is an overall band score of 7.5, with atleast a 7 in each of the 4 sections of the test, and you all will be glad to know that this(7.5) is the score demanded by the pristine universities like Cambridge or any University of the Ivy League. In a nutshell 7.5 is the highest score demanded by even the best universities across the globe. 🙌🏻💯 My advice to all aspirants out there.. Try to cut down the pauses and fumbles. Practise speaking with your friends or with your family members. Practice shall enhance your fluency as well as help in cutting down grammatical errors. Think of this test to be a friendly but formal conversation, rather than a serious examination. You will surely get band scores of 7 or above. All the best. 😄💯
